We are thrilled to share some exciting news following our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 9th! As CSED continues its mission to support, empower, and scale social enterprise across our community, strong and dedicated leadership remains at the heart of everything we do.
At this year’s AGM, two new members were appointed to the CSED Board of Directors. Each brings a wealth of expertise, passion, and a fresh perspective to help guide our strategic direction in the coming years.
Meet Our New Board Members
Edwin Ferrer
Edwin brings over two decades of experience in higher education, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and organizational development. His background includes leading technology and clean-energy ventures, supporting small businesses, and working with organizations focused on social and environmental goals. Edwin also brings expertise in digital transformation, innovation, and project management, helping organizations grow, adapt, and create lasting economic, social, and environmental value.
Naswiru Shema
Naswiru is a Projects and Communications Specialist based in Ottawa, with over five years of experience in stakeholder communications, community development, and youth programming. Naswiru currently manages the Ottawa Good Food Box social enterprise within the Rideau Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre, As a dedicated youth advocate, Naswiru serves as an Ottawa Youth Councillor and a Youth Leader with UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited, working to amplify youth voices and advance inclusion.
Expressing Our Gratitude
As we welcome new voices to the table, we also take this opportunity to celebrate and thank our outgoing board member, Drayton Mulindabigwi , whose term has come to a end.
During his 3 years on the Board, Drayton played an instrumental role in advancing CSED strategy and representing the youth entrepreneur perspective. His dedication, guidance, and passion for social enterprise leaves a lasting mark on CSED and the communities we serve.
Please join us in offering a warm thank you to Drayton Mulindabigwi for his outstanding service, and in giving a hearty welcome to Edwin Ferrer and Naswiru Shema as they step into their new roles!
