An Opportunity to Make Difference
CSED is currently seeking qualified individuals to join its Board of Directors. Are you motivated by business activities and approaches that create stronger, more caring and more sustainable communities? Do you want to contribute to meaningful conversations about social enterprise and their local relevance? If that’s you, please put your name forward to join our volunteer Board of Directors.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have a background or experience in:
- business and enterprise development
- charity/nonprofit management – particularly leaders who operate a social enterprise
Partnership - fundraising and sponsorship
- communications and/or public relations
- social procurement, and
- corporate social responsibility.
Prior board experience is helpful but not necessary.
Board responsibilities
As a Board Member, you will help shape CSED’s strategic direction; provide financial oversight; and serve as a champion for CSED and its mission. You will have the opportunity to:
- be a part of growing the social enterprise movement in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario
- gain or deepen your experience in governance, nonprofit management and enterprise stewardship, and
- connect with a group of engaged, mission-driven board members who also appreciate collegiality and fun.
Your Responsibilities
- commit to a 3-year term (with the potential to renew)
- attend quarterly Board meetings (hybrid, typically 2 hours)
- contribute skills and knowledge by participating actively in discussions
- be an ambassador for the CSED in the wider community, and
- be familiar with and abide by the by-laws, code of conduct and other policies that apply to the Board.
