Summer Job Opportunity: Communications Specialist

    • 35 hrs/week (full-time, contract)

    • Location: 20% in-office; 80% remote

CSED is a connector and capacity builder which supports social enterprise formation and success. We champion social enterprise as a way to build stronger, more caring and more sustainable communities. We help charities, nonprofits and social entrepreneurs realize their social enterprise ambitions and work with companies and organizations who want to build social value into their supply chains.

About the Position

Working within a small collaborative and supportive team, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for activities that support the effective communication and engagement with our stakeholders. Key responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: writing, editing, and producing diverse materials (social media posts, website copy, newsletter, blog posts, graphic design),
  • Digital Management: overseeing social media channels, website content, and digital marketing efforts,
  • Strategy Development: planning and implementing communication campaigns and strategies that support specific programs and projects, and
  • Research & Analysis: conducting research, analyzing campaign performance, and assessing effectiveness.

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • degree or diploma in communications, marketing or related field (achieved or advancing towards)
  • excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities
  • creative, with attention to detail
  • a self-starter, able to work independently and with a team
  • an interest in learning new skills and knowledge
  • an interest in social impact
  • proficiency in French, while not required, is an asset.

Eligibility Requirements

The position is made possible with funding support from the Government of Canada. Applicants must be eligible under the funding criteria of the Canada Summer Jobs program including:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at start of employment,
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada according to relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
