CSED is currently seeking passionate community leaders to join its volunteer Board of Directors!

Are you excited about social entrepreneurship as a force for good? Are you interested in furthering a business ecosystem that creates stronger, more caring and more sustainable communities? Do you want to contribute to meaningful conversations that advance social enterprise and their local relevance? If that’s you, please put your name forward!

This year, we are particularly interested in hearing from people who have a background or experience in:

• • communications and/or public relations
  • finance, ideally with a professional designation, and
  • legal.

Prior board experience is helpful but not necessary.

Board responsibilities

As a Board Member, you will have the opportunity to:

• • steer CSED’s strategic direction, ensure financial stewardship and champion its mission,
  • gain or deepen your experience in governance, nonprofit management and enterprise stewardship, and
  • connect with a group of engaged, mission-driven board members who also appreciate collegiality and fun.

Your Responsibilities

• commit to a 3-year term (with the potential to renew)
• attend quarterly Board meetings (hybrid, typically 2 hours)
• participate in standing and/or ad-hoc committees (e.g. finance, nominations, etc.) and attend key events (e.g. annual conference)
• contribute skills and knowledge by participating actively in discussions
• be an ambassador for the CSED in the wider community, and
• be familiar with and abide by the by-laws, code of conduct and other policies that apply to the Board.

The selection of the best candidates is driven by our desire to ensure that the board is comprised of culturally diverse members who bring a range of essential skills and experiences and reflect the organization’s focus.
