If you haven’t heard yet, November 16th, 2017 will be a great day for the city of Ottawa! Why? Unleashed: The Social Enterprise Event is happening! The Centre for Social Enterprise Development (CSED) is running a full-day conference to bring together all members of the social enterprise sector to demonstrate the roles that can be played in growing social enterprise in Ottawa.
With the help of Sandra Hamilton, Strategic Procurement Advisor, Speaker, and Canada’s First Social MBA, who is renowned for her work in social and strategic procurement, we can showcase how this area of work has brought communities together, for the better. Sandra will be hitting the stage first on November 16 to talk about social procurement, while delivering a session for purchasers during the first round of break out sessions in the morning.
Through her work, Sandra Hamilton has designed both British Columbia’s and Alberta’s first Social Procurement Frameworks and was recently nominated to profile her work at the World Trade Organization (WTO) Symposium on Sustainable Government Procurement in Geneva. She works with governments to modernize procurement processes and to better leverage existing taxpayer-funded systems to achieve key public policy goals.
Sandra Hamilton has over 20 years’ experience as a strategic advisor and business consultant and is the former Business Manager to Vancouver 2010 Olympics CEO John Furlong and Olympic rower Silken Laumann.
CSED believes that when it comes to social procurement there are a few critical aspects to consider such as building awareness and capacity of the sector, ensuring willing and able purchasers from large institutions and companies, and telling the story of the impact that procurement creates. We have been working with a series of purchasers from across the city, and hope to bring everyone together along with their teams to explore the topic in greater depth.
You’ll get the chance to learn more about social procurement on November 16th, so buy your tickets!!
