The CSED team is excited to welcome Manu Sharma as our incoming Executive Director.
A global business executive with over 15 years of experience developing and executing business strategies in alignment with corporate objectives, Manu is no stranger to the Ottawa community. He has worked with and led multiple local organizations while designing and building unique technology solutions, encouraging young entrepreneurs, supporting community betterment initiatives, facilitating innovation relationships, championing social causes and developing niche talent advancement programs. He has a strong strategic interest in creating opportunities to empower individuals, organizations and communities to connect, communicate, collaborate and co-create.
As a technology entrepreneur, Manu spent a good part of the last decade designing and building enterprise applications for some of the most complex business domains including real estate, eCommerce, retail, insurance, hospitality, education and most recently, in the realm of social computing. He has founded/co-founded multiple software focused companies including AirLoop and OAK Computing. Manu has significant experience in economic development, having conceived, developed and managed many entrepreneurship and leadership advancement initiatives and he recently served as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence with 1125@Carleton, an experimental, collaborative space at Carleton University. With over a decade of leadership experience with a host of youth leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation programs, Manu is a Trustee with Kiva Zip, member of Ontario Centre of Excellence’s College of Reviewers, Charter member with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), board member of Impact HUB Ottawa, Executive Director of Mindtrust, and a voting member of City of Ottawa’s Property Standards and Licensing Committee. He has personally and professionally mentored and coached over 250 youth leaders and budding entrepreneurs in our community and internationally. He is a past recipient of Ottawa’s Forty Under 40 award, City’s Immigrant Entrepreneur Award, Startup Canada’s Mentor Rock Star Award, and a proud alumnus of the Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference. Manu holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communications Engineering, a Master of Engineering in Computer Engineering, a Master of Business Administration and a certification in International Trade from the Forum in International Trade (F.I.I.T).
Manu’s entrepreneurial background, strategic mindset, and tri-sector experience bring a sense of leadership to CSED that will allow not only the organization but also the sector, to evolve and innovate. Manu has a strong history with CSED, having worked closely with the core founding team as an advisor at the time of CSED’s inception. He also recently participated in CSED’s first ever SE Accelerator as a domain expert. His dedication in knowledge learning and knowledge sharing puts him in a crucial role, for CSED and the social enterprise community.
